Illinois took a 39-29 lead into halftime at the Braggin' Rights Game after a sluggish offensive half for Missouri. The Tigers shot just 37 percent (10 of 27) and got outreboudned 20-8. Illinois had no trouble against Missouri's mix of man and zone defenses, shooting 62 percent (16 of 26).
Illinois' Jalen Coleman-Lands led all scorers with 10 points at the break, while Kevin Puryear led Mizzou with eight points.
The Tigers got within six points on a Puryear jump hook in the post with 3:24 left, but Illinois didn't let MU's momentum last long as D.
