Freshmen Parker, Gicinto catching on for Tigers

COLUMBIA, MO. • As injuries have ransacked Missouri’s depth on offense, a couple of freshmen have found their way into the game plan with roles that grow by the week. In Saturday’s 33-28 victory over Vanderbilt, rookie tight end Daniel Parker Jr. again became a blocking fixture in MU’s attack but also spread his wings as a receiver.

With the team’s top two tight ends still sidelined, that meant more three and four wide receiver formations, which meant more of freshman slot receiver Dominic Gicinto.

“At this point in the year, no one’s really a freshman who’s played,” Tigers coach Barry Odom said.
