Favorites emerge for Mizzou baseball job

COLUMBIA, MO. • It’s been 17 days since Missouri baseball coach Tim Jamieson announced his resignation and the school could be closer to hiring his replacement. The search has narrowed its focus on two leading candidates, according to multiple sources: Oklahoma State pitching coach Rob Walton and Arkansas assistant Tony Vitello.

One source indicated the search has shifted toward Walton, 53, a former head coach at Oral Roberts. Missouri is using a search firm to help conduct the hiring process.

Walton, a star pitcher at Oklahoma State in the 1980s, joined his alma mater’s staff in 2012.
