Drinkwitz completes defensive staff, could poach Big 12 for offensive assistant

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Eliah Drinkwitz’s Missouri staff continues to come together with pieces both old and new.

On Thursday, Mizzou announced that cornerbacks coach David Gibbs will return for a second season, completing a defensive staff that now includes three holdovers from Barry Odom’s 2019 team. Gibbs’ specific assignment will be decided once the staff is finalized, but he’s spent the bulk of his long career coaching in the secondary.

He returns to MU’s staff along with defensive coordinator Ryan Walters and defensive line coach Brick Haley. Drinkwitz has also hired two defensive assistants who coached under him this year at Appalachian State: D.
