With one of Mizzou’s most notorious 3-point gunners in the crowd at FLA Live Arena, Gholston banked a 35-foot heave off the glass at the buzzer to beat UCF 68-66 to finish an improbable comeback for the Tigers at the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic in Sunrise, Florida.
Mizzou (10-1) had gagged away a 14-point lead and looked poised to suffer a second straight loss in the final seconds until Gholston’s heroics. He got some help from a teammate, too.
UCF’s Jayhlon Young missed a 3-pointer from the wing with 9 seconds left, but MU’s D’Moi Hodge gathered the rebound and raced toward the basket to set up a potential game-winner.
