Creating havoc is a goal for Mizzou football's balanced group of defensive tackles

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Talk of how the interior of Missouri’s defensive line has developed during preseason camp sounds a bit like something out of a basketball lineup.

The Tigers return four experienced defensive tackles this season. All of them have impressed coaches, and all of them are poised to receive significant playing time as the 2023 season unfolds.

So far, which pair of tackles are out on the field for a given snap has been revolving.

“Everybody been rotating,” said Jay Jernigan, a senior defensive tackle. “Everybody been improving and now we got four solid guys that can go out there anytime.
