For three years, Sophie Cunningham has been the unquestioned face of Mizzou Women's Hoops — and one could argue she’s been the brightest star in ALL of Mizzou sports. She’s charismatic, fiery and supremely gifted. And unfortunately, in one year she’ll be off to the WNBA.
But on Monday night, Robin Pingeton landed the next star for her program, assuring their success will carry on well after Cunningham’s departure.
Aijha Blackwell, Whitfield star and consensus Top 10 national recruit spurned traditional powerhouse Louisville to play for her home state team. The decision is Pingeton’s biggest off-court win since she was hired in 2010.
