Benfred: Tigers want defense to have claws out for more turnovers

“If you ask our guys, they will tell you the key to what we need to have in our favor is the turnover margin,” third-year Tigers coach Barry Odom said Friday. “That’s taking care of the ball offensively, being smart with it. But defensively, it’s finding ways to get it back for our offense. It goes together. If you end the game, and you are a plus in the turnover margin, you have a chance to win.”

Perhaps the best player to ask about a sharper, more aggressive defense is the quarterback who faces it daily. Lock said he has noticed an uptick in batted balls this camp.
