While on a rehab assignment in Springfield, Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright teased that he would make a stop at City Butcher at some point and he apparently stuck to his word.
Wainwright tweeted on Monday evening that he visited the Springfield BBQ spot while in town for his Wednesday rehab appearance at Hammons Field. He included photos of him with employees of the restaurant along with some photos of ribs.
"Great people making great food!" Wainwright said. "It inspired me to fire up the smoker myself."
Wainwright is still with the Springfield Cardinals but they are on the road this week.
