Why MSU coach Bobby Petrino helped his players in their march for racial injustice awareness

Bobby Petrino was in his office when about six or seven guys walked in and nervously said they wanted to talk to him.

Petrino wasn't sure why they were nervous. He told them to sit down and to tell him what they were thinking.

The players were thinking of the different images they've seen around the country — whether it was an officer shooting Jacob Blake seven times in the back or an officer kneeling on George Floyd's neck. The horrific images were weighing on the players.

"Our players have always been involved and want to see social justice and believe in it," Petrino said during a Zoom press conference.
