Why Missouri State basketball is picked to finish 4th in the Valley and is considered a contender

Expectations are high for Missouri State men's basketball as it heads into its fourth year under head coach Dana Ford.

The Missouri Valley Conference announced Wednesday morning that the Bears were picked to finish fourth in the league with both Gaige Prim and Isiaih Mosley selected to the preseason team. Prim is the league's preseason player of the year.

With most of its roster back and a few more added on, Missouri State is in a position where it should contend for its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999.

Ford, who received a contract extension during the summer, will be expected to help his program take the next step.
