Whitney Young head coach Tyrone Slaughter was ready to come to the Tournament of Champions before he even got off the phone with Springfield Public Schools’ athletic director Josh Scott.
“As a coach, there’s so many things you have on a bucket list,” Slaught said. “ I’ve completed some of them. I’ve been fortunate enough to win state championships — coach players that have played in the NBA.
"One thing we haven’t done, and we’ve watched it from afar, was to play in the (Tournament of Champions).
