A college basketball dream almost didn’t happen for Preston Flood.
The Nixa High School senior signed a letter of intent to play NCAA Division III basketball at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
There was no last-minute surprise or speculation about where Flood would go. There were no television cameras or arrays of hats at his letter of intent signing ceremony Wednesday in the Nixa High School library — just a banner, a T-shirt, a pen and a document to fax once Flood’s signature was on it.
Preston Flood’s story is not one of flash and grandeur, but a story of hard work and persistence.
