Watching for the bald eagle

Poisoned by lead, rehabilitated eagle flies free near Long Lane Wes Johnson/News-Leader

A recent fishing trip to Stockton Lake was the one time I left the camera at home that I could have used it to get some good shots of wildlife.

First, just as I made my first cast, a bald eagle sailed overhead, followed by a second one. They were close enough to get a photo without using a telephoto lens. A third eagle landed in a tree off a nearby point and posed. Normally, if you get very close to these majestic birds, they fly out of camera range.
