Volleyball opens spring season with two wins and a loss

Sunday afternoon marked the conclusion of a three game season opener at Hammons Student Center for the Missouri State Bears volleyball team.

The Bears won their first two games by the scores of 3-1 against Oral Roberts, and 3-2 against South Dakota.

They dropped their final game against Wichita State 3-2. This was the first time the two teams competed since 2016, when WSU left the Missouri Valley Conference.

“I knew every single match was going to be a tough one for us,” head coach Steven McRoberts said in an interview after the WSU game. “We brought in three good teams and I thought our level of play actually got better as the weekend went on, even though today’s result wasn’t what we wanted.
