Saturday’s Great Southern Bank dunk contest did not disappoint them. Christian Popoola Jr. of Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nevada) took first place in the dunk contest by scoring 65 of a possible 70 points.
Popoola’s winning dunk involved him leaping over one of his Gaels teammates and dunking the ball with his left hand.
Popoola is a junior with basketball scholarship offers from UNLV, New Mexico and San Diego State.
Sam Cunliffe of Rainier Beach (Seattle, Washington) had a perfect score in the preliminary round with an authoritative slam after he bounce-passed the ball to himself.
