'This is just the beginning:' CU, partners mark completion of Dirt 66 bike trails

A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of more than 25 miles of natural surface trails surrounding Fellows Lake, but this is only the beginning, officials said.

The week leading up to Saturday's ceremony was full of scorching sun and dry days, but then a rainy forecast canceled the event's trail riding. That didn't stop the dozens of folks from attending the ribbon cutting at Miller Park for Dirt 66 being finished.

In 2018, City Utilities, which owns Fellows Lake, announced major changes were taking place. A new marina would be built and a series of mountain bike trails would be made around the 860-acre lake.
