The Price Cutter Charity Championship looks to be SGF's first big sports gathering amid pandemic

The Price Cutter Charity Championship is on pace to be the first major sporting event to take place in Springfield amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The event, that takes place July 17-27 with professionals playing July 23-26, is planning to be the PGA Korn Ferry Tour's first event to have spectators. It will also likely be the first major sports gathering in Springfield since the Class 1-3 high school basketball state championships were played at JQH Arena in mid-March.

PCCC Executive Director Jerald Andrews told a group of reporters and charity representatives on Monday morning at Highland Springs Country Club that the 2020 event will look different — not just because former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will be participating with the pros — but because of the pandemic.
