Due to a planned demolition, areas of Buffalo National River will be closed this coming week.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation is planning to demolish the old Highway 7 bridge at Pruitt in Newton County June 9, according to a social media post from Buffalo National River.
Following an environmental assessment in 2018, ARDOT worked with the Arkansas State Historic Preservation Office to document the old bridge for a historic record.
The demolition will affect traffic and visitor access on Highway 7. For safety reasons, Buffalo National River will enforce a temporary closure around the demolition site.
