Coach Steve Frank has chased a state championship ever since two titles eluded him in 1983 and 1984.
Strafford (30-3) won the first state championship in its girls basketball program’s history with a 50-46 win over Saxony Lutheran (29-3) Saturday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Frank’s twin daughters, Hayley and Kayley, helped their father finally bring home the big one.
“It means everything. It’s what we’ve worked for,” Hayley Frank said. “All he has ever talked out is his biggest goal, and he’s done so much for me and I couldn’t think of anything better to do it for him, and to be able to do it together just makes it that much more special.
