Pools will be opening soon in Springfield, but park board officials are still working out the details for which ones and when.
It's been a tough few years for the outdoor pools in Springfield, said Jenny Edwards, public information administrator for the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
When the COVID-19 pandemic first struck, the pool season was shortened in 2020 and only one pool opened at all that year, Edwards said. Since that year, Springfield hasn't opened all six of its outdoor pools, which include Fassnight, Grant Beach, Meador, Silver Springs, Westport and McGee-McGregor due to staffing shortages.
