Springfield fan-favorite Luke Voit is the MLB's home run king. Here's our knife photo.

Former Missouri State and Springfield Cardinals fan-favorite Luke Voit hit the most home runs over the course of the shortened MLB season.

During the season, the New York Yankees' slugger hit 22 home runs — three more than second-place finisher Jose Abreu from the Chicago White Sox.

In a 60-game season, every game is equivalent to 2.7 games during a standard year. If every Voit home run counted as 2.7, he would have finished the season with 59.4.

Voit's name has appeared in conversations for the American League Most Valuable Player award. His manager gave him his endorsement last week.
