A journey to 500 wins started in Marionville and continues today at Springfield Catholic, where Tony Armstrong still coaches players to win games after 29 years.
The Irish delivered Armstrong the 500th victory of his career this weekend with a 77-48 win over Galena in the Spokane Invitational Tournament. Armstrong, a 2014 inductee in the Missouri Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, said he didn’t know of the milestone until after the fact.
“I didn’t know I had (500), I think I’ve been pretty good at just trying to look at tomorrow and today and trying to get better,” Armstrong said.
