Springfield Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina called up to big leagues

After waiting patiently for his opportunity, Yadier Molina will finally have the chance to prove himself in the big leagues.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Tuesday afternoon they are activating Molina after a brief stint in Springfield.

Molina played in front of packed crowds on Saturday and Sunday at Hammons Field. During his stint with the Springfield team, he went 0-for-5 with an RBI.

Before joining the Springfield Cardinals and rejoining the St. Louis Cardinals, the catcher was in his 15th year with the big-league team. He was an eight-time All-Star and eight-time Gold Glover.

Before his Springfield Cardinal appearance, Molina was injured after being hit in the groin by a foul tip.
