Sports gambling decision has MSU athletic director 'very apprehensive'

The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned a federal prohibition on sports betting as unconstitutional under the 10th Amendment. New Jersey, the state originating the case, will be the first state to legalize sports gambling, Richard Wolf reports. USA TODAY

Missouri State Athletic Director Kyle Moats said he is "very apprehensive" about Monday's Supreme Court ruling that could lead to the legalization of betting on college and professional sports in Missouri.

The justices declared unconstitutional a law passed by Congress in 1992 that forced states to keep sports gambling bans on the books. The 6-3 decision clears the way for other states to join Nevada in allowing bets to be placed on individual games.
