Should swimmers worry about discovery of bighead carp in Bull Shoals?

MDC keeps track of all the biggest fish caught in the state Wochit

Do swimmers need to worry about being chomped by a bighead carp at Bull Shoals Lake?

Nah...unless you're a tiny plankton.

That's one upside of the recent discovery of a full-grown bighead carp, an invasive species from Asia, that was killed by two bowfishermen on the Missouri side of the lake. Wildlife officials think it's the first bighead that's appeared in Bull Shoals.

The fish get huge — they can weigh 100 pounds or more — but human swimmers have nothing to fear from them.
