St. Louis Cardinals fan favorite Yadier Molina will reportedly be heading to Springfield sometime this week, according to a report.
Derrick Goold — the lead Cardinals reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch — tweeted Tuesday night that Molina will likely be making a stop in Springfield "likely by Thursday."
Goold tweeted that Molina won't be joining the Cardinals for Friday's game against the Pirates.
Molina is currently on the injured list after straining his right thumb in mid-July. The nine-time All-Star missed 12 games in May and June with a similar injury and hasn't started a game since June 3.
