Rams moving back to Los Angeles with Chargers given option to join

HOUSTON — The NFL is returning to Los Angeles, but it remains to be seen whether one or two teams will move there.

Owners voted Tuesday night 30-2 to approve the relocation of the St. Louis Rams, ending a 21-year absence in one of the country's largest markets. The San Diego Chargers have the option to join them if they reach agreement with Rams owner Stan Kroenke on his proposed stadium in Inglewood, near the L.A. airport.

The teams will have one year to negotiate. If the Chargers don't exercise their option to move to L.A., the Oakland Raiders, the third team that applied for relocation, would then be given the opportunity.
