Bear Up or Bear Down?
Super Bowl-winning coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Mike Ditka is scheduled to be in town Sunday night to attend a private MSU football fundraising event.
Missouri State head football coach Dave Steckel tweeted "Legendary BEAR coming to meet Our Bear family. Going to be a GREAT night. #Springfield . #BearUp" on Sunday morning.
Ditka was the head coach of the Super Bowl champion 1985 Chicago Bears. He was the head coach in Chicago from 1982-1992.
Steckel's brother, Les Steckel, was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings in 1984 after serving as the wide receivers coach from 1979-1983.
