Jhonny Peralta can feel the pain of St. Louis Cardinals fans everywhere.
Not the pain from the torn ligament in his left thumb that has kept him sidelined since early March. But the pain when he looks at the standings in the National League Central Division.
“Seeing Chicago in first place is kind of hard for me to see,” said Peralta, who joined the Springfield Cardinals on Friday for a three-game rehab stint.
St. Louis is sitting in third place in the Central standings, with a 24-24 record entering Friday’s play, and 81/2 games behind the first-place Cubs.
