It all came down to the final shot in overtime.
Milton senior guard Bruce Thornton beat two Paul VI defenders and got his shot off with 2.5 seconds left. The ball bounced off the back of the rim and out asPaul VI escaped with a 55-54 victory to advance to the championship round of the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions.
“Boy, that ball went up and I think we all collectively held our breath,” head coach Glenn Farello said with a laugh.
