Two Missouri State sluggers earned All-American honors Wednesday.
Jake Burger and Spencer Johnson were both named third team All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Johnson, an outfielder selected by Houston in the 16th round of last week’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, becomes the 37th Missouri State baseball standout to be honored as an All-American and the fifth Bear to earn the distinction in 2016 alone.
Johnson, a Parkview graduate, finished his college career by being named “most outstanding player” at the Missouri Valley Conference tournament in Terre Haute, Indiana. He hit five home runs in six games to lead the Bears to a runner-up finish.
