Out of control state quarterfinal sends Carthage to semis while Glendale's season ends

A wild — and seemingly out of control — state quarterfinal matchup resulted in Glendale's season coming to an end.

Carthage advanced to the Class 5 state semifinals with a 64-34 win over Glendale on Friday night in Springfield.

There won't be many who are talking about Carthage's dominance on the line of scrimmage and how it came up with opportune turnovers. The talk will be about the fireworks — both literally and figuratively — that led to the game getting out of hand.

With Glendale trailing 28-12 with over six minutes remaining in the second quarter, Falcons receiver Ben Shoemaker was the intended receiver on a pass across the middle.
