It was a nearly perfect start for Nixa and a result befitting a No. 1 seed on Wednesday.
The swarming Lady Eagles raced to a stunning 26-3 lead after the first quarter and went on to a 78-31 victory over previously undefeated Waynesville Lady Tigers.
The early dominance actually went according to plan for Nixa.
“You’ve got to get rolling right away,” said junior guard Macie Conway.
She certainly started fast, scoring 16 points in the first quarter on the way to a game-high 22.
“When we start strong, it carries over. It’s good,” Conway said.
