Nixa standout tight end Alex Allen announced on Twitter that he will continue his football career at the University of Northern Iowa.
His father, Terry Allen, played quarterback at Northern Iowa from 1975-78.
When his playing days were over, he worked his way up to taking over as the head coach of the Panthers in 1989. After eight season at UNI, Terry left to take a job at Kansas before becoming the Missouri State head coach in 2006.
Alex had offers from Northern Iowa, Eastern Michigan, Southern Illinois, Missouri State and Illinois State among others on the table.
