The Missouri State Lady Bears had a simple New Year’s resolution for 2017 – just win. But it turned out that visiting Drake ended up popping the corks after humbling the Lady Bears 90-64 Sunday afternoon before 2,351 fans at JQH Arena.
“This is not what we had hoped or planned for,” said coach Kellie Harper, after the Lady Bears dropped to 4-9 overall and 0-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. “We’ve seen Drake enough to know what they are going to do. We weren’t competitive enough.”
Lexi Hughes said the team had a positive outlook for the new year prior to the game.
