Nearly three years after Missouri State announced it would begin removing "JQH Arena" signage off its venue, a new name for the arena is expected to be announced this week.
The Missouri State Foundation announced it will hold a press conference on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to announce "a significant gift." MSU President Clif Smart and MSU Foundation Executive Director Brent Dunn are expected to speak.
A new name is expected to come from an entity with local name recognition and not a specific individual.
Smart said in a March 21 interview on Sports Talk with Art Hains and Wyatt Wheeler to "look for an announcement on the arena soon" while noting multiple corporate entities had "money on the table.
