New-look Lady Bears still have some swagger

Missouri State’s women’s basketball team doesn’t have Tyonna Snow this season. She’s playing professionally in Finland, taking her per-game averages of 16.8 points and 6.9 rebounds overseas.

Kenzie Williams is a graduate assistant coach at Central Missouri, with her 14.0-point average and 63 made 3-pointers as a senior.

Hillary Chvatal is gone, too, along with her 8.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

But when the Lady Bears took the court for their first practice on Monday, there wasn’t any wide-eyed nervousness about life without the three senior leaders from last season’s NCAA Tournament team.

“I think there’s a little swagger, a little confidence, and I think that’s good,” Lady Bears coach Kellie Harper said.
