New jellies — not jellyfish — join Wonders of Wildlife zooplankton exhibit

Bringing jellies from a holding tank into their new exhibit takes patience and a gentle hand.

Anything as innocuous as a bubble in the water can lead to tears in a jelly’s dome, and although they can grow their oral — or arms — and tentacles, it’s best to avoid anything that could damage the zooplankton.

Wonders of Wildlife Aquarist Chelsea Bremer has been watching and waiting for the day to bring South American jellies into their new habitat. The sea nettles can grow between one to three feet and are normally found around the Pacific coast of South America.
