NCAA says Missouri State 'failed to monitor women's volleyball program,' leading to sanctions

The Missouri State women's volleyball program committed numerous violations, according to a decision released by a Division I Committee on Infractions hearing panel, the NCAA announced Thursday morning.

The decision will lead to three years of probation, a one-year postseason ban, a fine of $5,000 plus 1 percent of the women's volleyball program budget and other sanctions.

The NCAA's decision follows legendary head coach Melissa Stokes' decision to resign in 2019 after an independent investigation found that NCAA violations occurred within the volleyball program.

The NCAA said the former volleyball coach was "personally involved in many of these violations and permitted others, thereby violating head coach responsibility rules.
