MSU's first baseman can't repeat his toasts, but the tradition appears to be working

Missouri State first baseman Ben Whetstone talks about his speeches that "gets the boys going." Wyatt D. Wheeler, wwheeler@news-leader.com

Standing at the top stair of the dugout before the Bears take the field, Ben Whetstone looks down at his teammates and delivers a speech.

Whetstone leans in as his teammates huddle around the stairs and raise their Gatorade cups filled with a shot of something to drink (water).

A toast — which is different for each game — is delivered, as is tradition.

The words appear to get the Bears ready to battle but cannot be printed in a family newspaper.
