MSU signee picked in 40th round of MLB Draft

A high school pitcher who has signed to play baseball at Missouri State was selected by the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday in the 40th round of the MLB Draft.

Matt Russell, a right-hander from Staley High School in Kansas City, was MSU's only signee to have his name called during the draft this week.

As a junior, Russell posted a 6-2 record and a 1.94 ERA.

Russell has until July 7 to sign with the Angels, otherwise he will be a Bear.
