AMES, Iowa — The Lady Bears' improbable postseason run just got a whole lot sweeter.
The Missouri State Lady Bears are headed to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history after a 69-60 upset victory over No. 3-seed Iowa State on Monday evening in Ames, Iowa.
MSU will play the winner of Monday night's late matchup between No. 2 seed Stanford and No. 7 seed Brigham Young on Saturday in Chicago for a trip to the Elite Eight.
This marks the first time the Lady Bears have advanced to the Sweet 16 since Jackie Stiles led MSU to the Final Four in 2001.
