Missouri State football is scheduled to open at Oklahoma on Sept. 5 and it sounds like the Sooners are willing to get back on the practice field later rather than sooner.
Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley said on Thursday that he wants college football to be patient as it prepares for an offseason amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think it’s our job as football coaches to look way, way beyond what’s competitively (best) for our own team,” Riley said. “For a lot of coaches, that’s hard. We’re wired to try to do everything we can to help our teams win.
