The Missouri State University athletics program is under a Title IX investigation.
A spokesman from the United States Department of Education confirmed to the News-Leader that the Office of Civil Rights has been investigating the university since June 29.
The spokesman declined to discuss the nature of the investigation, but former Missouri State field hockey player Paige Pashea told the News-Leader that the field hockey team filed a Title IX complaint about a week after Missouri State announced its decision to cut the team.
