MSHSAA still plans to play its basketball state championships at JQH Arena this upcoming week despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommendation that events consisting of 50 people or more throughout the United States be postponed or canceled.

The CDC said Sunday that mass gatherings and large gatherings can contribute to the spread of coronavirus in the United States via travelers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities.

Examples include conferences, festivals, parades, concerts, and sporting events.
