REEDS SPRING — I was gung-ho to find my first morel. But my first-ever morel mushroom hunt was unsuccessful in terms of finding my own fungi.
However, all was not lost.
It was a week of writing about what to look for and things to remember while morel mushroom hunting. I sent a call out on social media asking if anyone would be willing for me to tag along with them when I was told about Fungi Fest at Old Wilderness Canyon in Reeds Spring.
Remembering the tips from forager Dan Liles, partner Trent Holloway and I suited up in long pants, boots and layers to attend Fungi Fest, where folks could search 57 acres of primitive campground for morels.
