The Missouri Valley Conference announced Tuesday it has invited Valparaiso University to join the league.
In a brief statement posted to the MVC's Twitter account, the league said its Presidents Council had voted unanimously to extend a membership invitation to Valparaiso, effective July 1.
Adding Valparaiso would bring the Missouri Valley's membership back to 10 schools after Wichita State University announced last month it was leaving for the American Athletic Conference.
Mark Adams, a college basketball analyst for ESPN and the American Sports Network, reported last week that the Valley was poised to add only Valparaiso and stand at 10 teams for the 2017-18 season.
