Missouri State soccer standout Bentley drafted to MLS

Missouri State's top scorer and The Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year is headed to Minnesota.

Forward Matthew Bentley, who scored 13 goals and 30 points for the Bears last season during the team's NCAA run, was drafted No. 88 overall, in the fourth round of the Major League Soccer draft.

Bentley, a 21-year-old native of England, played three years at West Virginia Wesleyan College before transferring to MSU.

His final goal as a Bear was a big one not just for the team but for the program's history, as it sealed a 1-0 win over Denver, giving Missouri State it's first NCAA Tournament win in school history.
