Missouri State men's soccer claims outright Valley title with overtime goal to stay perfect

Missouri State men's soccer claimed a championship and remained the only perfect team in the country in just about the most dramatic way possible on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bears trailed 2-0 at Valparaiso 49:22 into the match but Missouri State scored two goals to force overtime. Matthew Bentley kicked in the game-winner to win the outright Missouri Valley Conference title with a 3-2 victory.

Missouri State (14-0-0) is the No. 9 team in the nation and Wednesday's victory clinched its first Valley regular-season title since 2017.

Bentley scored two goals in the game. His first one came 71:54 into the match while Stuart Wilkin tied the game with just under four minutes to go in regulation.
